14 November 2025
The Singapore Bullion Market Association (SBMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Margaret Wong as Executive Director – Head of Operations, effective 1 January 2026.
Margaret, who previously served as Business Director at SBMA, has been an integral part of the Association’s development and member engagement. Her appointment strengthens SBMA’s Secretariat as the Association enters its next phase of growth and advances its strategic initiatives, including Project Lion 2.
Strengthening SBMA’s Secretariat
Margaret brings valuable experience from her previous role at the World Gold Council (WGC), where she gained extensive exposure to the gold community in Singapore and the broader region and developed strong working relationships across the industry.
Since joining SBMA, she has contributed to member engagement, industry outreach and the delivery of key initiatives and events. She has also played an important role in coordinating with the event management company for the Asia Pacific Precious Metals Conference (APPMC), SBMA’s flagship annual event.
As Executive Director – Head of Operations, Margaret will oversee the Association’s general administration, member relations, finance, business support processes and office operations, while continuing to support the Secretariat and Management Committee in advancing SBMA’s objectives.
Supporting Project Lion 2
The appointment comes as SBMA prepares to advance Project Lion 2, the Association’s strategic roadmap to strengthen Singapore’s position as a leading and trusted hub in the global bullion ecosystem.
Announced alongside the election of SBMA’s new Management Committee at the 2025 Annual General Meeting, Project Lion 2 represents the Association’s most ambitious strategic initiative to date.
The new leadership structure and strengthened Secretariat will support SBMA as it works with members, regulators and industry stakeholders to advance the development of Singapore’s precious metals ecosystem.
Looking Ahead
Margaret’s appointment reflects SBMA’s continued commitment to strengthening its operational capabilities, deepening member services and supporting the sustainable growth of Singapore’s bullion industry.
Working alongside CEO Albert Cheng, the Management Committee and the SBMA Secretariat, Margaret will contribute to the Association’s continued development as Singapore enters a new phase of growth in the global bullion ecosystem.
SBMA congratulates Margaret on her appointment and looks forward to her continued contributions in her new role.
