SBMA Explores Strategic Collaboration with Laos Bullion Bank
21 August 2024: In a significant step toward enhancing regional collaboration, SBMA representatives, including KL Yap, Albert Cheng, Vinh Nguyen, Margaret Wong, and Clara Chang, recently met with key figures from the newly established Laos Bullion Bank—Crystal Rose, Nina, Jimmy Duan, Sunny, and Pay. The meeting was an introductory session to explore potential collaborations and discuss SBMA’s participation in the upcoming Capital Link Forum in conjunction with the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (ABIS) in Laos this October.
The ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (ABIS) is organised by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC). Since its inception in 2003, ABIS has become a vital platform for dialogue between the business community and ASEAN leaders. The summit, scheduled for 10 October 2024, will be hosted by Laos under the theme “Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.” This year’s event is expected to attract thousands of participants, including top executives, thought leaders, and government officials, aiming to address pressing economic issues and explore new business and investment opportunities within ASEAN.
Launched through a partnership between the Laos government and PTL Holding Co., Ltd., the Laos Bullion Bank aims to build substantial gold reserves and stabilise the national currency, the Lao Kip. This effort is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the country’s financial foundation.
